This is just a short little post...no science stuff, or fitness tid bits, just an honest post of my thoughts today. I've had an interesting roller coaster of a ride these past few weeks. When crap happens, we tend to see life in a different light. Well, either in a different light, or it brings things back into perspective. I have gained my perspective back this week.
I have always seen myself as one who usually doesn't get very "emotional," but this week has definitely trashed that theory. Fact is...I love, and I love hard. I guess I was afraid of having that open door that led directly to my heart being all exposed, but I have been a closet lover. LOL It comes easy for me to care about people and want the best for them. With that said, I have "come out of the closet," so to speak! I am progressively working on my love walk and working at it daily. I appreciate that part of me...how God made me...and I like it! Anyway, I know this doesn't deal directly with health or fitness, but through my eyes, it does. Who you are and how you deal with life and the stresses of life, directly correlate to keeping yourself on a healthy path. Through a healthy mind comes a healthy heart.
So, people...Love Who You Are and Love What You Do...and don't be afraid of it!

Stuck in a Rut?!?
I have found myself at a plato.Which, for lack of a better word...sucks! In all honesty, I wasn't trying to think of a better word, that's the one I wanted to use. Moving on.
There comes a point in your health efforts, again, not just talking about weightloss, this can pertain to any physical effort. In my case, it just happens to be a mixture of weightloss and getting healthy and fit. I have another 30# to lose. While that doesn't seem like so much to lose anymore...a year ago, losing those pounds would have been "easy as pie" (it's just a saying; pie is not recommended for weightloss progression). That being said, I have to get a little crazy. When you find yourself at a standstill, you want to change something in your current pattern of things. There are many things you can do. For one, change up your eating. If you are used to eating 1,200 cal everyday, switch it up and have a few 2,000 cal days. You can also increase your physical activity. Say, for example, you run 3 miles everyday. Now after a while, your muscles have gotten used to what you are doing. Throw in some sprinting days or instead of jogging those 3 miles, try faster miles or one at normal pace then a dramatic increase in the next and then go back to normal pace. There are thousands of examples I can give. The point is, we have got to jumpstart our metabolism again. We need to gel up the defibrillator and shock ourselves when in a slump. I hope this entry can help someone who is starting to feel like a failure or like your hard work isn't getting you anywhere. You just need to change things up a bit. WE WILL GET THERE! I leave us with a quote: "NOTHING IN THE WORLD CAN TAKE THE PLACE OF PERSISTENCE. TALENT WILL NOT; NOTHING IS MORE COMMON THAN UNSUCCESSFUL MEN WITH TALENT. GENIUS WILL NOT; UNREWARDED GENIUS IS ALMOST PROVERB. EDUCATION WILL NOT; THE WORLD IS FULL OF EDUCATED DERELICTS. PERSISTENCE AND DETERMINATION ALONE ARE ONMIPOTENT. Heavy Lifting, Anyone?
Okay, so I am trying my hand at Olympic Weightlifting! What does that mean? Well, I learn the nitty gritty's of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. So far....so good. I am really enjoying it. As stated before, women, don't be scared to lift some weight over your head. Muscle plays a great role in increased metabolism, strengthens bones, and assists in weightloss in a significant way. Olympic Weightliftng is different from Body Building. In fact, Olympic Weightlifters are in most cases, stronger that Body Builders. The body builder tends to look stronger and "blown up" physically, but you would too, with the right "supplements". If you check out olympic weightlifting men and women, they are more lean in their body and many don't even look like they lift weights. That's the kind of weightlifter I want to be looking like. I wanna be the cute and feminine chick that can lift heavy things over her head. Guys and gals...give it a try. Many of you will be surprised on how much you can actually lift. It gives you a great sense of empowerment and accomplishment. BE ADVISED...if you are not trained on proper form, make sure you have some one who is showing you the ropes, no matter how light you go on the weights. Proper form is key. Like any sport, there is always a risk of injury, but with the right form, you'll be good to go! SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO LIFT SOMETHING HEAVY! EMPOWER YOURSELF!!! :)

Shake Things Up!
One thing I like to make sure I do is have variety. Whether it be meals, activities, or men (just kidding...really!) What I enjoy about a community like CrossFit, is you never know what to expect, until you get to the black matted facility to get the snot kicked out of you by the Workout of the Day (WOD).
Today, I changed things up a bit. I got up waaaay too early (but not early enough to be on time) and headed down to Lai'e to "try my hand" and feet and legs and butt at Mountain Biking with a few friends from work. I tell ya, there is something about those tiny little seats. You would think someone would come up with something more creative with them, instead of just creating bike shorts with a built in balls protector (for the men, or course).
In any event, it was very enjoyable. The adrenaline rush was awesome. I don't know how many times coming down the mountain smashing the tires into boulders, rocks, and roots, did I think I was for sure gonna die. Needless to say..I survived and so did all the guys. I walked away completely unscathed, which for me, is quite a miracle. Since I was a lil girl, I have always managed to get injured in some form or another. Looks like things may be looking up for me! Speaking of up...I am looking to get into some skydiving and indoor mountain climbing...for kicks. If anyone is interested...let's talk!
