Racing for the Cure

I had a great time running, jogging, and (a little bit of) walking the 5K of the Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure today. It was great to take part in this event. So many people are affected and effected by cancer, in every form. I ran with the thoughts of a few family members who have fought this disease. There is certainly a large amount of gratefulness I have for my health! While my running partner and I were not in the best 'running shape' of our lives (a.k.a. not having trained at all), it was a good workout and needless to say, we survived. This was my first 5K, as I don't have a great love for running, but do understand it's benefit, which is why it is still apart of my workout regimen. If it was not beneficial, you better believe I would have just donated to the event instead of having physical participation. I look forward to the many running events, especially those that include such great causes. As the saying for this 5K was continually chanted as I ran the running route: "I AM THE CURE!"  It was a simple statement...but, boy was it powerful. Keep your eyes peeled for other great events and get yourself in the mix. Go participate in something you believe in and have a hope for a better tomorrow!
